Paul qualified from Kings College School of Dentistry in 1992. He spent two and a half years working in hospital in oral and maxillofacial surgery before entering general practice, which he combined with starting an oral surgery referral practice in Eastbourne. In 1996, he started a part-time MSc in Periodontology at UMDS (Guys Hospital), which he completed in 1998. He continued on to study the newly created Master of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontology) degree, achieving a distinction in July 2000. Around the same time he passed the Fellowship in Dental Surgery and Membership in Restorative Dentistry examinations of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and became one of the first dentists in the UK to gain a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training for Periodontology at the end of the 2000. Until recently he taught undergraduates at Kings College Dental School. He does however, continue to teach in the Eastman Dental Institute Department of Continuing Professional Development. He is regularly invited to lecture on Periodontics and implant dentistry to dentists around the country, including surgical master-classes for the Bristish Society of Periodontology. Paul has had periodontology articles published both here and abroad.
